This is very aromatic coffee from the Sigri plantation in Papua New Guinea, comming from the Hagen hill, frequntly called by specialists as "top plantation". Sigri is one of the most famous regions n the world with its trademark of colorful bird. The island of Papua New Guinea is located directly below the equator, where there are excellent climat conditions for the cultivation of high-quality coffee. First plantations were established in this region only at the end of the 19th century. In the 1920s, plant cuttings from the famous Blue Mountains in Jamaica were smuggled into Papua New Guinea and their cloned strains have been grown ever since. The Sigri plantation is located on Mount Hagen in the Poponetta region at an altitude of 1,300 to 1,800 m above sea level, where the coffee trees thrive in more fertile soil. Grain selection starts in the field. Only ripe fruit is picked and sorted by hand. The coffee beans are fermented and washed in the next 2 days, then dried in the sun. Thanks to the high standards and special aromas of coffee, the Sigri plantation produces unique types of coffee that impresses with its similarity to Jamaica Blue Mountain brews.
